Behind the Collab: Kelly Ventura
Could you introduce yourself?
I’m Kelly, a Michigan-based artist & designer creating from my light-filled, small town studio. My gestural watercolor florals and patterns are licensed across a range of products with select retail partners; Anthropologie, Crate & Barrel, IKEA, John Lewis, Lou Lou & Company, Target, Tervis and more. Seeing a design come to life on a product will never get old and still feels so exciting each time a new product sample arrives.
Where do you find inspiration?
Nature is a constant source of inspiration for me; with its changing seasons, there is always a delightful surprise to capture.
Why did you wanted to work with Lou Lou & Company?
When I stumbled upon Lou Lou & Company online years ago, I loved their brand aesthetic and Karen's story of how the company came to be. We've been chatting on and off for a few years now about working together and the timing finally felt right for both of us last year. It has been a total dream working with Karen & Jeff. From our initial calls, through many revisions to the final product, they have been 100% on board with making this a collaboration that honors both of our brands.
What's your favorite color?
That's a tough question!! I would say dusty blue-green.
How do you balance being a working mother?
Such a tricky question with an ever-changing answer. Every season from newborn to toddler to where we are now has been full of new things to navigate, but I've been so fortunate to have the flexibility to make my own schedule. Life is busy, but I don't want to miss out on these amazing years with my boys. My husband and I have found a good rhythm with work/home life lately and it feels right for our family. It may change tomorrow, but we're soaking it up for now!
